Art Deco Poster

I did an Art Deco Poster for Air Caribbean. I wanted to show the person who would be looking at this poster that the Caribbean is a sunny, warm, inviting and beautiful destination for vacation. I took all the pictures from google and placed them into Adobe Illustrator and live traced them at color 16. This gave them an animated, painted look. I put a gradient on the sun from orange to yellow so it looked warm. The palm trees have dark and light green. I put an effect on the letters, sun and palm trees so they looked 3D and popping out of the picture. The slogan "Nothing like Island time" has a brown to yellow gradient so it looks like sand, but doesn't blend into the sand of the beach. I thought the Art Deco project was hard because I had never seen a deco before this project so it took me a couple of days to figure things out. I didn't use an online tutorial, but Mr. Boothby gave me a book that had a couple pages with art decos on them which showed how to put texture and different colors into the deco to make it look as if it was painted not computer generated. Below are the individual pictures I used in this project.

Project Poster 1

This is my social awareness poster which was created to bring attention to Breast Cancer. My aunt was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2003 and was told by her Doctor that she only had six months to live. However, she battled through the disease and now eight years later she is in remission. I wanted to do this poster because Breast Cancer Awareness is a very important topic to me. I want people to educate themselves on the disease so they feel inclined to fund or donate to organizations which research possible cures. I want every woman diagnosed with this disease to be able to call themselves a "survivor" as my aunt now can.

I took the boxing gloves off of google and put them in Adobe Illustrator. I live traced them at color 16 so they were animated looking. I copied them into Photoshop. Then I added text "KO (knockout) the Big C (breast cancer). I arched the "Big C" and i squished "KO" and did "the" in a different font. Next I added the slogan in the right corner and the BC symbol in the "C".

Below are the two pictures I got from google and used in my poster. The BC ribbon which is in the "C" and the pink boxing gloves which I rotated and live traced and they are punching the "KO".

Color Theory and Logo Design Keynote Movie-Revised

This is my revised movie. I added transitions in between slides and some other graphics. I also increased the time of the slide change so all of the information can be read without rushing.

LOGOS

I created three logos on Adobe Illustrator. One with my initials, the second with my full name, and the third I used my name and incorporated symbols within. This project was sort of hard for me because I am not a very creative person, and this project required me to have multiple design ideas with many different colors. Overall this project was helpful because it introduced me to new techniques and tools that Adobe Illustrator offered.

I used the pathfinder bar to help me create my initials logo and I divided the triangle and the M as well as shrinking it so there was a white border. I added color to the triangle and M so it would pop.

My friend spells my name using letters and characters so I decided to take his idea and use it as my full name logo. The "i", "s", "t" and "a" in my name are all characters, "!", "$", "+", "@". I used an average font to type my name but to make it more creative I used a very colorful gradient full of spring time colors. The gradient includes pink, purple, blue and green.

For my final logo I used my full name once again but incorporated symbols I found within the symbols bar of Adobe Illustrator. I removed the black dots of the "i" and replaced them with small blue flowers. This is my favorite logo I made because it is simple, clean and pretty.

Overall I thought all of my logos were acceptable, however, I could always improve in the creative area.

Ligatures!

Ligatures!

  • These are 4 ligatures I created.
  • For two of the ligatures the "The Pancake House" and "New Years Eve" I just attached the ends of the letters to one another so all of the words flowed together.
  • The "NYC" ligature I connected at an angle.
  • The "Hello Goodbye' ligature also has attached letters. The two "L"s are flipped around so their backs are facing eachother, same goes for the "B" and the "D" in goodbye.
  • This project was okay, I didn't really have any ideas to make these ligatures more creative besides attaching all of the letters together.
  • It was also hard to connect words with two or three lines.

Shape Replacement Letters

  • For this project I took a word and replaced one letter in the word with a picture that had the similar shape as the letter. So, the candy cane is an "i", the cookie is an "o", the reese's peanut butter cup is the apostrophe in reese's and the purple daisy is the "o" in flower. I would find the picture on safari and save it to my desktop. I then went to FILE and PLACE and selected the picture on the desktop. I then created an outline for the picture and went to LIVE TRACE and TRACING OBJECTS. Depending on which one looked best I either chose color 6 or color 16 for the picture.
  • I thought this was an easy yet fun project. I like the way my final letters came out. I think all the pictures successfully represent the replaced letters. I would give myself a 9/10 for this project and I would enjoy to do it again.
